Check out where food is growing around the qathet region, and some of the people behind it.
Home Grown, published by qathet Living, explores the world of food and agriculture in the qathet region. In addition to a map listing most of the food growers in our region, this issue looks at new ways farmers are trying to get their products to market. We also look at local growers using small scale flax production for seeds and linen, and how a new food processing building illustrates how Tla’amin cares for its people through food. There’s a story about how (and why) you should volunteer to help with community food sufficiency. Finally, there’s a tapping into traditional knowledge is helping Tla’amin Nation ensure food for the future. Plus a website for swapping garden produce, challenges with abattoirs, a food “un-conference”, the two-block diet, what farmers should consider to FireSmart their properties, and much more.
