The quintessential Canadian donut shop is finally coming to Powell River. Tim Hortons will open later this month. Owners Cal and Lisa Giesbrecht, who are moving here with their young family. The store will employ 20 to 30 and be open 24 hours a day. The 2,700 square foot building will seat 48 and has a drive-thru, said Alexandra Cygal, manager of public affairs for Tim Hortons. The restaurant will offer the full Timmy's menu, and the latest technology in iced-capp dispensers.
Do you remember watching the Dragons' Den and seeing Clayton Turney wow the dragons with his "Zingy"--an incredibly durable small boat? Clayton has bought the old Oriental Restaurant building and hopes to be selling his creation soon.

There's a new owner at 1st Choice Carpet Cleaning. Joe Smith, who moved to Powell River a few years ago, and his wife Michelle, who grew up here, just bought their first home and are hoping to become firmly established here. Three established practitioners have joined together to create a new professional space named Synergy Health Centre. Silke's Organic Market Place and Capone's Cellar liquor store will open in the new Phoenix Centre Phase 2 development. They're aiming for an opening date of Aug. 1.
There's a new golf pro in town! Buzz Wilson recently moved to Powell River from Calgary but hails from Victoria. Buzz has had 25 years in the golf game and has perfected many aspects of the game but says teaching will be a main focus at Myrtle Point Golf Club.
